This is a ride in – ride out motorcycle service with a difference.

Q: Why’s it different? A: Because you get to be the one who services your own bike.

I will, without using a white board and pointy stick, stand side by side with you and show you exactly what’s needed to perform a full motorcycle service.

And to top it all off, I will show you how to check and regularly maintain your pride and joy.

The day starts at 9.00 am and ends at 5.00 pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits will flow continuously in our centrally heated workshop.

Oil, oil filter and coolant included in price ( please see ‘engine check’ section for exemptions ).

Cost for this workshop experience is £250.00 No VAT.

What I will be teaching you to do

Engine checks

• Oil change – the grade used will depend on the manufacturer’s recommendation (motorcycles that run specialist V power type oils will incur a further cost)
• New oil filter
  • Air filter check (if bike has aftermarket air filter fitted we will clean and refit. If you wish to provide an air filter at your own cost and your own choice, we will fit it)
• Test/replace/top up coolant as required
• If you provide new spark plugs we can fit them with the service for free depending on make of motorcycle (some motorcycles require an extensive strip down to fit new plugs and will incur a further cost)

Chassis and brake tests

• Brake callipers and brake pad check
• Hydraulic brake fluid system inspected, topped up or replaced as required
• Control cables, levers and pivots, throttle, clutch, brakes cleaned and lubricated
• Adjustment of throttle and clutch
• Steering play and race bearing kit – examined for any looseness and adjusted as necessary
• Front forks inspected and checked for operation
• Rear suspension inspected and checked for operation
• All fasteners including engine mounting and chassis bolts inspected and tightened as required
• Wheel bearings checked
• Main and side stands checked and lubricated
• Headlight checked for aim and focus – adjusted as required
• Fuel hoses checked
• Tyre pressures checked and adjusted as necessary
• Chain adjusted and lubricated as necessary
• General lubrication

And at the close of play, you get to ride your pride and joy home with a fresh stamp in your service book.
